Privacy Policy

The short version

You do not need an account to play here, and we never ask for your name or email address. Your game in progress, your settings and your lifetime statistics are stored in your own browser and are never sent to us. Our web server keeps ordinary access logs, the way every web server does. This site currently shows no advertising and runs no third-party analytics.

Who we are

This policy covers the website at cardporch.com and the games on it. If you have a question about anything here, write to hello@cardporch.com.

No account, no sign-up

There is no registration, no login and no password on this site. We do not collect your name, email address, postal address, phone number or payment details — there is nowhere on the site to give them to us, and nothing we would do with them. We do not sell personal information, because we do not have any to sell.

What is stored on your device

The games save their state using your browser's local storage. Local storage lives on your own computer or tablet: it is not a cookie, it is not sent with web requests, it is not readable by other websites, and it never reaches our servers. Under storage keys beginning cp.euchre. we save:

  • Your game in progress — the current deal, so closing the tab and coming back later does not lose the hand.
  • Your settings — stick the dealer on or off, animation speed, card size.
  • Your lifetime statistics — games played and won, hands played, euchres for and against, lone hands made, current and best streak.
  • Simple counters — for example how many hands have been played on this device, so we can tell the game is being used without involving any third party.

That data stays on your device until you remove it. You can delete it at any time by clearing site data for cardporch.com in your browser's settings (on an iPad: Settings → Safari → Advanced → Website Data; in Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Delete browsing data). Clearing it erases your saved game and your stats, and there is no backup anywhere else — that copy is the only copy.

If your browser blocks local storage, or you are in a private window that throws it away, the game still works. It simply will not remember anything between visits.

Cookies

CardPorch sets no cookies of its own, and you do not have to accept anything to play.

Server logs

Like every website, our hosting provider records a standard access log entry for each request: the IP address making it, the page requested, the time, the referring page and the browser's user-agent string. We use these only to keep the site running, to diagnose errors, to defend against abuse and to count traffic in aggregate. They are kept only as long as they are useful for those purposes, and they are not combined with anything else to build a profile of you.

Advertising

There is currently no advertising on this site: no ad network scripts are loaded and no advertising cookies are set. CardPorch is intended to be ad-supported, so this will change. When it does, this section will be updated before the first ad is served, naming the network and describing exactly what it sets. Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland will be asked for consent through a certified consent management platform before any advertising cookie is used.

Analytics

No third-party analytics service runs on this site at the moment. The only usage numbers we keep are the counters described above, which never leave your browser, plus the aggregate totals in our server logs.

Children

CardPorch is a general-audience card game site. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone — children included — because the site does not collect personal information at all.

Your choices

  • Clear your saved game, settings and statistics by clearing site data for cardporch.com in your browser.
  • Block or delete third-party cookies in your browser settings; the games keep working.
  • Play in a private browsing window if you would rather nothing persisted at all.
  • Write to hello@cardporch.com with any privacy question, including a request to know what we hold about you. The honest answer is usually "nothing but a line in a web server log".

Changes to this policy

If we start serving ads, add analytics, or change what is stored on your device, this page is updated first and the date below changes with it. Material changes will be noted at the top of the page.
